However, most ASS lithium-ion batteries need to work at a relatively high temperature range (~55 ℃ to 70 ℃) due to the low kinetics of lithium-ions transfer in electrolytes/electrodes and their interfaces.
This indicates the lowest operating temperature of ASS lithium-air battery (~20 ℃ for cathode and ~10 ℃ for anode) and explains the reason why ASS lithium-air batteries lose almost all of their capacities and powers as the temperature falls below room temperature.
Achieving high performance during low-temperature operation of lithium-ion (Li +) batteries (LIBs) remains a great challenge. In this work, we choose an electrolyte with low binding energy between Li + and solvent molecule, such as 1,3-dioxolane-based electrolyte, to extend the low temperature operational limit of LIB.
