In this regard, the energy is stored or released using materials with high thermal mass (active) and phase change materials (passive) . High thermal mass materials like stone, brick, water, and concrete may accumulate a lot of heat and provide the building components with thermal inertia.
According to the priority of chiller and TES for providing the on-peak cooling demand, the control strategies can be divided into chiller priority, storage priority, and constant proportion controls. Chiller priority is a basic control strategy extensively used in TES integrated with the building system.
