One approach involves operating the wind generation system with power reserve, achieved by shifting the MPPT reference. In this approach, the pitch angle can be regulated based on frequency deviations, enabling power reserves to participate in primary frequency control 156.
Voltage and reactive power regulation. Grid codes specify the permitted range of voltage and frequency variations that wind gen-erators must adhere to during grid connection. Wind generators are required to contribute to grid voltage stability by providing reactive power support and maintaining voltage within acceptable limits53.
The ability of wind generation systems to support grid frequency is closely related to the synchronization mechanism. The conventional synchronization of wind generation systems with the power grid using PLLs typically involves power injection without offering frequency support.
The interactions of wind generation systems as well as the dynamics of the wind turbines, especially for grid-forming control, should also be fully investigated. Under high penetration of wind power systems, the characteristics of the integrated grid cannot be simply represented by an ideal grid with an impedance in series.
These requirements are twofold: first, wind generation systems must operate effectively under diverse grid conditions and disturbances arising from interactions between wind generation systems and the grid; and second, wind generation systems are mandated to provide various auxiliary services to ensure the optimal operation of the power systems.
The performance analysis shows that wind power plants and EVs along with THPP can effectively help in reducing real-time power imbalances acquainted in the power system due to the large-scale integration of wind power and subsequently improve the power system security.
