In all control methods and strategies for the battery and supercapacitor combined energy storage system, the primary objectives are to divide the power into two components—low frequency and high frequency and regulate the DC link voltage.
Also, a combined supercapacitor and battery energy storage system are considered to control the DC bus voltage, which is connected through a two-way DC-DC converter. In this paper, to increase the controllability, the active structure is used for hybrid storage.
First, the study proposes a new control strategy using wavelet transform, neural network and fuzzy logic to deal with energy management problem of the battery and supercapacitor hybrid energy storage system. Second, the proposed strategy has good real-time and adaptive performance, which has been validated based on a hardware platform.
In this study, we propose a real-time energy management control strategy for a battery and supercapacitor hybrid energy storage system. The strategy consists of neural network offline training and real-time implement two parts.
The battery-supercapacitor hybrid energy storage system is considered to smooth the power fluctuation. A new model-free control method is utilized in the stand-alone photovoltaic DC-microgrid to provide the power to meet the demand load, while guaranteeing the DC bus voltage is stable.
Additionally, the system effectively manages the charging of the battery and supercapacitor within permissible limits, ensuring their longevity. Conversely, in power surplus situations, the controller absorbs excess power to stabilize the bus voltage, maintaining efficient operation even under varying charge levels.
