In this paper, several new control strategies for employing the battery energy storage systems (BESSs) and demand response (DR) in the load frequency control (LFC) task are proposed.
This plan is takes into account different states associated with power system frequency response as well as BESSs' state of charge (SOC). The demand response (DR) program is another solution to enhance the frequency regulation which suffers from communication delay.
In, a distributed control algorithm using the response of randomizing thermostatically controllable loads has been employed to regulate the frequency. It has been demonstrated that the DR properly influences the power system frequency while the generation side controllers are disconnected.
As a result, to maintain the frequency of power system in an acceptable range, the generation resources should provide more power which may force them to operate at inefficient operating points, . Furthermore, applying too much conventional power plants is a costly process and is not environmentally friendly.
