Heating treatment is the mainstream method to separate the modules in the waste photovoltaic (PV) module recycling process, which has not been studied thoroughly. In the present study, a two-stage heating treatment was conducted to separate the waste crystalline silicon solar panels.
Achieving finely tuned phase separation and vertical distribution within the photoactive layer is crucial for enhancing charge transport, thereby significantly influencing the photovoltaic performance of organic solar cells (OSCs).
Crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules currently dominate the market due to their cost-effective and established technology. However, many of these modules are expected to be decommissioned soon. The solar cells within these modules, particularly the silver grid lines, possess considerable recycling value.
The proposed method facilitates the separation of most laminate materials under solvothermal conditions within a short time and in a moderate-temperature environment. It achieves almost complete recovery of the polymer from the laminates and significantly enhances the recycling efficiency of PV modules.
In summary, separation occurs mainly in the aluminum paste layer on the back of the solar cell. During this process, most aluminum back electrodes are removed along with the adhesive film, and only a minimal amount of aluminum residue is on the back of the solar cell. 3.2.2. Mechanism of Na 2 CO 3 treatment separation
In the present study, a two-stage heating treatment was conducted to separate the waste crystalline silicon solar panels. The TPT backing material could be recovered integrally by heating at 150 °C for 5 min, which was conducive to further recycling and regeneration.
