Purpose-built rechargeable battery solutions designed to meet the rigorous demands of telecommunication base station backup and primary power systems. Telecommunication base stations form the backbone of modern wireless communication networks — from 4G LTE to the rapidly expanding 5G.
How much does a 4 hour battery system cost? Figure ES-2 shows the overall capital cost for a 4-hour battery system based on those projections, with storage costs of $147/kWh, $243/kWh, and $339/kWh in 2035 and $108/kWh, $178/kWh, and $307/kWh in 2050 (values in 2024$).
In 2025, the typical cost of commercial lithium battery energy storage systems, including the battery, battery management system (BMS), inverter (PCS), and installation, ranges from $280 to $580 per kWh. Larger systems (100 kWh or more) can cost between $180 to $300 per kWh.
Major projects now deploy clusters of 20+ containers creating storage farms with 100+MWh capacity at costs below $280/kWh. The solution adopts new energy (wind and diesel energy storage) technology to provide a reliable guarantee for the stable operation of communication.
Individual 5G base stations require 3–4 times more power than fourth-generation mobile communication technology (4G) base stations, and their deployment density is 4–5 times that of 4G base stations [3, 4].
